Position Overview

This role is designed to be assigned to various campuses based on the specific data-driven needs in the areas of Reading/Language Arts, Mathematics, and/or Science. The individual will engage in a minimum of one core content teaching period (math or RLA) at the elementary level and at least one core content period (math, ELA) at the secondary level, adhering to the standard class duration in the specified subject area.

The primary focus of this position is to deliver exemplary classroom instruction that serves as a model for other educators' professional development. Responsibilities include conducting classroom coaching, modeling lessons, and providing constructive feedback to designated teachers. This role will also serve as a representative for training and professional development within the campus, region, or district for the identified content area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver standard class instruction while maintaining an identified classroom as the teacher of record, facilitating lab observations for fellow educators and providing direct instruction to students.
  • Engage in curriculum development and updates in relevant content and program areas.
  • Design strategic intervention models in collaboration with campus administration to support students who are performing below grade level.
  • Lead preparations for on-campus professional learning community (PLC) sessions with assigned grade levels or content areas.
  • Act as a trainer of trainers for the specific content area, offering on-campus professional development for district-wide initiatives.
  • Collaborate with District Teaching and Learning and School Leadership departments to develop and deliver professional development programs.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development to enhance skills in content and program areas.
  • Work closely with campus administrative staff to identify teachers for targeted coaching cycles aimed at enhancing instructional skills and improving student academic outcomes.
  • Provide follow-up support to identified teachers, offering specific feedback and assistance with next steps.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments and personnel to ensure effective program implementation and student success.
  • Serve as the on-site coordinator for tutoring requirements, monitoring student progress and providing necessary follow-up.
  • Oversee the new teacher mentoring program, ensuring that all new educators are paired with experienced mentors and are informed about the mentoring requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution is required.
  • A valid Teacher certificate with the necessary endorsement for the assigned subject and level is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience is required.
  • Must hold a Teacher Excellence Initiative (TEI) rating of Proficient I or higher, or a TIA designation of Exemplary or Master.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Reading/Language Arts and/or Math content.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse populations in an urban multicultural environment.
  • Strong collaborative skills to engage with a diverse community, district staff, parents, and the public.
  • Proficient technology skills for creating engaging professional development, analyzing data, and utilizing various technology tools.
  • Experience in developing strategic intervention models to support students below grade level.
  • In-depth knowledge and ability to facilitate content and/or grade-level PLCs.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with campus administrative staff and district departments.
