Unit Overview
Our facility spans six floors, providing comprehensive care for both long-term residents and post-acute rehabilitation patients. Each floor accommodates between 50 to 60 beds, with nurse-patient ratios varying by shift and patient demographics. The unit includes specialized areas for dementia care, long-term care, and rehabilitation services. With a total of 250 beds, we focus on distinct patient specialties, including general rehabilitation, neuro rehabilitation, traumatic brain injuries, and oncology care. Our residents can engage in various therapeutic programs, such as music therapy, expressive arts, and gardening activities.
About the Rehabilitation & Nursing Center – Cedar
Designed with a homely atmosphere, the Rehabilitation & Nursing Center – Cedar features spacious accommodations compared to our previous facility. The center includes four large interior courtyards, a modern dining area, an on-site dialysis unit, an art room, and both private and semi-private rooms equipped with windows, restrooms, and showers. We have incorporated contemporary furnishings and advanced technology to enhance the comfort of our residents.
Job Responsibilities
Registered Nurse (RN)
The RN is responsible for delivering nursing care in accordance with the standards set by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the legal requirements of the State of Michigan. This role requires demonstrating proficiency through the nursing process, which encompasses assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN is expected to uphold professional performance standards, including ethical practice, culturally sensitive care, effective communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, resource management, and environmental health. The ultimate goal is to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Under the supervision of the RN or a healthcare provider, the LPN plays a vital role in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. The LPN will provide information to patients and their families regarding treatments, medications, and equipment, ensuring coordination with the RN or healthcare provider. Accurate documentation of care provided is essential, following established guidelines.
Typical Shifts
- 12-hour shifts: 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., every third weekend
- 8-hour shifts: 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., every other weekend

Qualifications
Registered Nurse (RN)
- Associate Degree in Nursing or graduation from an LPN program is required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required within five years.
- Current Michigan RN license is required.
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 90 days.
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Associate Degree in Nursing is required.
- Current Michigan LPN license is required.
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 90 days.
