Unit Overview

Our facility spans 6 floors, providing specialized care for long-term residents and post-acute rehabilitation patients. Each floor accommodates 50-60 beds, with nurse-patient ratios varying by shift and patient population. The unit includes a dedicated dementia section, two long-term care areas, and a rehabilitation unit. With a total of 250 beds, we focus on patient specialties such as general rehabilitation, neuro rehabilitation, traumatic brain injuries, and cancer care. Our facility offers various engaging programs for residents, including music therapy, expressive arts, and a garden room.

About the Rehabilitation & Nursing Center - Cedar

Designed with a homely atmosphere, the Rehabilitation & Nursing Center - Cedar features a spacious layout compared to our previous facility. Amenities include four large interior courtyards, a new dining area, an on-site dialysis center, an art room, and both private and semi-private rooms equipped with windows, restrooms, and showers. Modern furnishings and advanced technology ensure our community members feel comfortable and at home.

Job Responsibilities

Registered Nurse (RN)

The RN is responsible for delivering nursing care in accordance with the standards set by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the State of Michigan. This role requires the application of critical thinking through the nursing process, which encompasses assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN is expected to uphold professional performance standards, including ethical practice, culturally sensitive care, effective communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality of care, and resource management.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

The LPN works under the supervision of the RN or mid-level provider and collaborates with the healthcare team to assist in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Responsibilities include informing patients and families about treatments and medications, as well as documenting care provided in compliance with established guidelines.

Typical Shifts

  • 12-hour shifts (days): 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., every third weekend
  • 8-hour shifts: 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., every other weekend
  • Schedule accommodations may be considered but are not guaranteed

Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Associate's degree in Nursing or graduation from an LPN program required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing required within 5 years.
  • Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

  • Associate's degree in Nursing required.
  • Current Michigan Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.
