Unit Overview

Our facility spans 6 floors, dedicated to providing exceptional care for both long-term residents and post-acute rehabilitation patients. Each floor accommodates between 50-60 beds, with nurse-patient ratios tailored to the specific shift and patient demographics. Our specialized units include a dementia care unit, two long-term care units, and a rehabilitation unit. With a total of 250 beds, we focus on various patient specialties, including general rehabilitation, neuro rehabilitation, traumatic brain injuries, and cancer care. Residents can engage in a variety of programs such as music therapy, expressive arts, and gardening activities.

About the Rehabilitation & Nursing Center - Cedar

Designed with the concept of 'home' in mind, our center offers a spacious environment compared to our previous facility. It features modern amenities, including four expansive interior courtyards, a new dining area, an on-site dialysis unit, an art room, and both private and semi-private rooms equipped with windows, restrooms, and showers. The facility is furnished with contemporary decor and incorporates advanced technology to enhance the comfort of our community members.

Position Responsibilities

Registered Nurse (RN)

The RN is responsible for delivering nursing care in a responsible and accountable manner, adhering to the standards set forth by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the State of Michigan. This role requires proficiency in the nursing process, which encompasses assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN is expected to uphold professional performance standards, including ethical practice, culturally competent care, effective communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, resource management, and environmental health, all aimed at achieving optimal patient outcomes.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Under the supervision of the RN or Mid-level Provider, the LPN plays a vital role in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. This position involves educating patients and their families about treatments, medications, and equipment used, in coordination with the RN or Mid-level Provider. Documentation of care provided must be completed accurately in accordance with established guidelines.

Typical Shift Patterns

  • 12-hour shifts (Days): 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., every third weekend
  • 8-hour shifts: 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., every other weekend
  • Schedule accommodations may be available but are not guaranteed

Qualifications

Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Associate's degree in Nursing or completion of an LPN program is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required within five years of hire.
  • Current Michigan RN license is required.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 90 days of hire.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

  • Associate's degree in Nursing is required.
  • Current Michigan LPN license is required.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 90 days of hire.
