Position Overview:

Are you passionate about enhancing the lives of individuals and families in Arizona? The Department of Economic Security (DES) is dedicated to empowering communities and improving quality of life. We are currently seeking a skilled and driven Legislative Specialist to support our mission within the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD). This division is committed to providing high-quality, member-driven services to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

The Legislative Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Conducting thorough research and monitoring federal and state legislation to ensure compliance with new laws, assessing their implications, and coordinating responses with the DES Office of Legislative Services (OLS).
  • Tracking and reporting on legislative and policy changes that may affect DDD operations.
  • Performing legal and factual analysis, preparing written communications, and interpreting relevant statutes and regulations.
  • Facilitating discussions during Arizona's Legislative Sessions with DDD representatives to ensure awareness of significant legislative developments.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Public Policy or a related discipline.
  • Experience in legislative and policy analysis.

Skills and Abilities:

Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Analytical capabilities to evaluate complex information and provide recommendations.
  • Proficiency in various computer applications, including Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • The ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
