Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Engineering Supervisor to join our team at the University of Miami. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the acquisition, design, teaching, implementation, monitoring, maintenance, and improvement of medical equipment at our health system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise day-to-day operations within the service areas, ensuring that work performed meets or exceeds established regulatory agency guidelines.
  • Provide supervision and training for Biomedical Engineering personnel, including employee motivation, hiring, discharge, discipline, promotion, performance evaluation, and salary adjustments.
  • Perform inspection, testing, and maintenance of medical equipment; evaluates equipment problems and implements appropriate repairs with minimum supervision while maintaining effective customer relations and customer protocols, as needed.
  • Develop, monitors, and controls budgets to assure the most cost-effective and efficient operation.
  • Collaborate with other support entities (e.g., IT or Facilities) to develop support plans for devices or systems that require multi-disciplinary support.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in relevant field
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
  • Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions
  • Knowledge of pertinent regulatory agencies, standards, codes, and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment
  • Proficiency in computer software (i.e., Microsoft Office)
