Medical Records Specialist

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Records Specialist to join our team at Iredell Memorial Hospital. As a Medical Records Specialist, you will play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of patient medical records.
Key Responsibilities- Collect, sort, and file loose and transcribed reports into medical records
- Collect, sort, log, and scan medical records requested by outside entities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date Excel spreadsheets and provide detailed follow-up
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to resolve medical record discrepancies and ensure accurate documentation
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Prior experience working in a Medical Record department highly preferred
- Excellent computer and typing skills with proficiency in Windows and Excel
- Knowledge of basic office equipment and experience with terminal digit filing required
- Ability to read various handwriting, detail-oriented, strong communication skills, and ability to work independently
- Ability to handle stress in a mature and professional manner
- Ability to identify problems, situations, and implement actions for improvement
- Must possess full range of body motion to pass a basic FIT test, including bending, stooping, standing, and sitting for extended periods
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Requires working under moderately stressful conditions and may require working extended or irregular hours
- Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity
- Requires normal vision/hearing range and ability to distinguish letters and numbers
