X-Ray Technologist Job Description

At UnitedHealth Group, we are seeking a skilled X-Ray Technologist to join our team. As an X-Ray Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform diagnostic X-ray examinations to diagnose or decide the optimal procedure for patients.
  • Create a comfortable and tranquil environment for patients to adhere to examination instructions.
  • Identify anatomical orientation on all required images and ensure proper file identification.
  • Demonstrate competency in performing all radiographic procedures and operating related equipment.
  • Greet patients, obtain history, and enter information into the computer system.
  • Perform X-rays at optimal quality and demonstrate patient care to protect patients from excessive radiation.
  • Observe patient vital signs during examinations and provide coverage as needed.
  • Provide instruction and mentoring to new hires and maintain CPR certification.
  • Perform procedures in compliance with Standards of Care, facility, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain quality standards related to HIPAA regulations and demonstrate a positive patient experience.
  • Share information with patients, provide knowledge about procedures, and ensure follow-up steps and requirements.
  • Demonstrate a positive experience from referring providers and provide excellent quality.
  • Consistently submit images of diagnostic quality without recommending additional image acquisition.
  • Perform quality assurance on images and equipment and demonstrate competency in utilizing systems.
  • Make decisions authoritatively and wisely after contemplating various courses of action.
  • Contribute to efficient outpatient operations, maximizing productivity of assigned modality.
  • Utilize sterile techniques to prevent contamination and review each examination for technical accuracy.
  • Presents completed examinations to radiologists and communicates pertinent data to responsible parties.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, interact positively with employees, and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
  • Meet or exceed deadlines, follow through, and demonstrate accountability, flexibility, and adaptability.
  • Enhance professional growth and maintain certifications, registration, and active CMEs through education programs, conferences, and workshops.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of examination rooms.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologist) certified.
  • Demonstrated ability to use or learn the department's computerized system and associated devices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or Baccalaureate degree in radiography, radiation therapy, or nuclear medicine.
  • 1+ years of experience as a general radiologic technologist.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with patients, visitors, and employees within the organization.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to lift patients weighing up to 300 pounds and place them in appropriate positions for equipment operation.
  • Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to operate equipment and review developed films.
