Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated Pet Care Sales Specialist to become an integral part of our diverse team. This role involves a variety of sales responsibilities, from generating interest to finalizing transactions. The primary duties include engaging with customers to understand their needs, providing insights about our pets and products, and recommending suitable options. A successful Sales Specialist will address customer concerns promptly and ensure a high level of satisfaction. Staying informed about product features and maintaining an appealing store environment are essential for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service through effective sales techniques while educating clients on proper pet care.
  • Evaluate customer needs and offer assistance regarding product features.
  • Greet customers upon entry and respond to their inquiries.
  • Ensure excellent animal care by following daily operational procedures and maintaining a clean and organized store.
  • Meet and exceed departmental sales targets on a regular basis.
  • Proactively engage with customers to drive sales.
  • Keep assigned areas well-stocked and visually appealing.
  • Actively approach customers throughout the store.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of available products and discuss options with customers.
  • Process transactions accurately at the point of sale.
  • Encourage customers to consider additional products.
  • Manage merchandise returns effectively.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure outstanding customer service.
  • Build trusting relationships with customers.
  • Adhere to inventory management procedures.
  • Propose strategies to enhance sales performance (e.g., marketing initiatives, store layout changes).
  • Engage with potential customers and respond to inquiries through various communication channels.
  • Coordinate appointments for store visits and follow-up communications.
  • Create promotional materials to showcase the store on social media platforms.
  • Participate in community service initiatives as directed.
  • Assist Animal Care Technicians with additional animal care tasks as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in retail sales, sales representation, or related fields.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Basic understanding of sales principles and customer service practices.
  • Proficiency in English; bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Familiarity with customer and market dynamics.
  • History of exceeding sales targets.
  • Hands-on experience with point of sale transactions.
  • Knowledge of inventory management practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication.
  • A friendly, energetic demeanor with a focus on customer service.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and resolve complaints promptly.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
