Public Health Nurse Specialist

As a Public Health Registered Nurse with the Cherokee Nation, you will play a vital role in improving the health and well-being of our communities. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate nurse to join our team and contribute to our mission of promoting healthy behaviors and preventing disease.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide high-quality healthcare services to individuals and families in accordance with the Cherokee Nation's self-governance compact and funding agreement.
- Monitor health status and identify solutions to individual, family, and community health problems.
- Develop and implement policies and plans that support individual and community health efforts.
- Enforce laws and regulations that protect health and ensure safety.
- Link people to needed personal health services and assure the provision of healthcare when otherwise unavailable.
- Evaluate the effectiveness, accessibility, and quality of personal and population-based health services.
- Research new insights and innovative solutions to health problems.
- Associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school in Nursing.
- One year of nursing experience preferred.
- License as a Registered Nurse (RN) from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing or multistate RN license accepted by the OBN.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) certification at supervisor's discretion.
- Valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
- Knowledge of and acceptance of the responsibility to adhere to the Oklahoma Nurse Practice Act.
- Education on and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Ability to meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for child care.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; risk of radiation and vibration.
