Position Overview: The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will oversee all financial aspects of ABT, including accounting, financial planning, reporting, and cash management. This role is pivotal in supporting the Executive Director and the organization in strategic operations, financial planning, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the finance team to effectively meet the financial requirements of the organization.
  • Oversee the development of accounting policies, internal controls, cash management protocols, financial plans, and budgeting processes.
  • Advise on and implement strategies to enhance the financial governance of ABT.
  • Ensure clear communication with finance staff and relevant board committees.
  • Direct the preparation of budgets, long-term financial plans, and periodic financial reports.
  • Manage the institution's general accounting functions, including journal entries, cash disbursements, and reconciliations.
  • Safeguard ABT's assets in alignment with institutional objectives and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, including taxation and corporate governance.
  • Supervise the annual independent audit process.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with financial service providers.
  • Oversee all banking transactions and manage investment funds in accordance with board directives.
  • Provide the development team with necessary data for grant applications and financial reporting.
  • Administer employee benefit programs and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Manage office operations and facilities maintenance.
  • Participate in collective bargaining negotiations and manage related agreements.
  • Oversee the development and management of information systems.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively.
  • Proven experience in budget development and fiscal management.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and ability to foster favorable agreements.
  • Commitment to fair treatment in developing and administering benefit policies.
  • Proficient in handling sensitive information with discretion.
  • Advocate for ABT's mission and values within the organization and the broader community.

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate degree in finance or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of financial management experience in the nonprofit sector, ideally as a CFO or Director of Finance.
  • At least five years of supervisory experience.
