New York, New York, United States New York City Economic Development Corporation Full time
Job Overview

Vision Statement: Our aim is to establish New York City as a leading example of inclusive growth and innovation, driven by the diverse talents and enterprises within the City.

Mission Statement: We are dedicated to fostering a dynamic, inclusive, and globally competitive economy that benefits all residents of New York City.

The Neighborhood Strategies division operates under the NYCEDC's Planning Department, collaborating with various departments to facilitate sustainable and inclusive development across New York City's neighborhoods and waterfronts. This division is responsible for advancing significant projects that involve community participation in future planning, enhancing neighborhood vitality, guiding strategic infrastructure investments, optimizing public assets, and promoting economic opportunities alongside climate resilience.

The Neighborhood Strategies team spearheads intricate, multidisciplinary planning initiatives throughout the five boroughs, utilizing the policy instruments and resources available from NYCEDC divisions and city agencies. The team is engaged in planning for substantial public infrastructure investments and public-private partnerships; conducting spatial assessments to better understand neighborhood challenges and prospects; and leading public engagement efforts to ensure meaningful community involvement in the planning process. Our team comprises committed public servants who are passionate about the well-being of New York City and its diverse communities.

Current Initiatives: The Neighborhood Strategies team is currently involved in several notable projects, including the Together for Kingsbridge community vision plan aimed at guiding the redevelopment of a historic site in the Bronx; the Staten Island North Shore Action Plan, a transformative investment for a vibrant waterfront; and the FiDi & Seaport Climate Resilience Master Plan designed to enhance flood protection and public spaces in Lower Manhattan.

Position Responsibilities: We are looking for a Project Manager to support and contribute to our diverse range of projects. The successful candidate will play a crucial role within EDC project teams, responsible for essential project management functions such as developing and monitoring project timelines, coordinating team efforts, and facilitating community engagement. The role will also involve leading internal meetings and preparing teams for discussions with various stakeholders.

Key Duties:

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support extensive planning and development initiatives by delivering high-quality outputs, adhering to deadlines, and effectively communicating with diverse audiences.
  • Assist in creating a variety of visual and written materials to support project teams, including graphics, maps, presentations, and web content, while coordinating efforts both internally and externally as required.
  • Support the design and execution of public outreach strategies, including in-person and virtual events, online engagement, and other platforms.
  • Maintain professional communication with staff across NYCEDC and with partner agencies, consultants, and external stakeholders.
  • Adhere to deadlines established by supervisors and proactively communicate any changes to schedules or deliverables.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience, including internships or fellowships.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Proficient in using Esri's ArcGIS software.
  • Ability to produce clear maps and engaging graphics for various audiences.
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.
  • Experience in community outreach and translating complex concepts into accessible materials.
  • Capable of working collaboratively as well as independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and follow-up skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and analytical abilities.
  • Genuine interest in public service, urban development, and the communities of New York City.
  • Portfolio showcasing graphic and mapping work is encouraged.
  • Willingness to travel across the five boroughs as needed.
  • Residency in New York City is required within a specified timeframe of employment.

Compensation: Salary range is $73,000—$75,000 USD.
