Your Role on the Team
Position Overview:
The incumbent acts as the initial point of contact for patients visiting the outpatient clinics. Responsibilities include performing general clerical and reception tasks, entering patient information into the registration system, and confirming insurance and/or third-party coverage. The role also involves scheduling, confirming, and canceling patient appointments.

Required Qualifications:
- Must possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential for the successful execution of assigned duties.
- Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate for the role.
- Availability to work weekends and holidays is required.
- Proven experience with office equipment such as printers, copiers, faxes, and scanners.
- Experience with multi-line telephone systems is essential.
- Proficiency in computer usage, including data entry and retrieval.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
- Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Competence in performing basic calculations and simple math.
- Ability to maintain an appropriate work pace relative to workload.
- Capacity to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a standardized assessment is required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
- Familiarity with insurance programs and/or government programs is advantageous.
- Experience with TDS, Signature, IDX is beneficial.
- Previous experience in registration, scheduling, and/or authorization processes is preferred.
- Experience in a hospital or medical office setting is desirable.
- Bilingual skills in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Chinese are a plus.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Vietnamese may be required for certain clinics.
- All final candidates must successfully complete an FBI fingerprinting process to comply with the University's cash handling policy.
