Role Summary:
Under the supervision of a designated leader, the incumbent will engage in investigative activities that do not necessitate police authority within the Police Department. Responsibilities may encompass specialized divisions within the Investigative Service Bureau or Criminal Intelligence Bureau, including but not limited to Fraud, Juvenile Delinquency, and Real Time Crime Center.

Emergency Responsibilities:
Essential Employees may be called upon to work during emergencies, potentially requiring extended hours on short notice. Non-Essential Employees will not be required to work during such events, as determined by their Department Head.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit original and supplementary Incident Reports of varying lengths and content.
- Conduct follow-up communications with the public, law enforcement, and investigative partners through phone calls, emails, and in-person interactions.
- Gather data from diverse sources, including computerized crime and traffic databases.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and investigative leads for additional information and conduct background checks using automated systems.
- Interview victims, witnesses, and caregivers, and may oversee suspect interviews as requested.
- Author and review Court Orders and Search Warrants, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed.
- File cases for prosecution with the State Attorney's Office, acting as the complainant when necessary.
- Create investigative support materials such as Photographic Line-ups and Crime Bulletins.
- Operate unmarked police vehicles for investigative or administrative purposes as directed by supervisors.
- Assist in managing records within the Records Management System (RMS) and updating case management queries.
- Conduct background investigations for prospective sworn police Department employees.
- Attend court hearings to provide testimony regarding investigative duties and reports.

Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a related field; equivalent experience may substitute for formal education.
- A minimum of ten years of sworn law enforcement experience, including five years in investigative roles (e.g., Detective, Investigator).
- Strong understanding of investigative protocols, evidence collection methods, and legal principles related to criminal investigations.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse individuals.
- Proficiency in relevant computer applications and software for investigative work.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, or a related field.
- Ten years of investigative or detective experience with a law enforcement agency.
- Relevant certifications in specialized areas.
