Job Summary

The City of Sandpoint, ID is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sports Facility Operations Manager to oversee the daily operations of the James E. Russell Indoor Sports Center. This is a full-time regular position that requires a strong background in managing sports and recreational facilities, program development, staff management, and budget oversight.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement operations, management, and staffing manuals for the facility
  • Oversee daily operations, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for visitors and users
  • Collaborate with Recreation Services Superintendent, Community Planning & Development Director, and City staff to optimize facility usage
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, local schools, sports teams, and stakeholders
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate staff performance
  • Provide high-level customer service and address concerns, inquiries, and feedback in a professional and timely manner
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety standards
  • Oversee maintenance and repairs of the facility and its equipment
  • Develop and implement membership plans, pricing strategies, and promotional offers to attract and retain members
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and prepare regular reports on facility performance, usage statistics, and financial status
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Three years' experience in managing sports or recreational facilities, program development, staff management, and budget oversight
  • First aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within six months from date of hire
  • Valid driver's license
