Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Corrections Officer to join our team at Johnson County Community Corrections. As a Corrections Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our facility and the offenders in our care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and supervise offenders on a day-to-day basis, ensuring their compliance with facility rules and regulations.
  • Conduct regular security checks, including searches of offenders and their living areas, to prevent contraband and maintain a safe environment.
  • Investigate incidents and allegations of misconduct, documenting findings and taking appropriate action.
  • Provide support and guidance to offenders, helping them to achieve their rehabilitation goals and prepare for release.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure effective communication and coordination of offender programs and services.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in corrections.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of corrections training program preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, making sound judgments and decisions in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with offenders, staff, and community partners.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record required.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a correctional facility setting, with frequent exposure to offenders and potentially hazardous situations. The successful candidate must be able to maintain a high level of physical and mental fitness, with the ability to respond to emergencies and work in a dynamic environment.
