Electrical Engineer - Plant Operations

Vulcan Materials Company is a leading producer of construction aggregates and a major producer of aggregates-based construction materials. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Birmingham, Alabama.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing electrical engineering and project management services for our plants across Alabama. This will include designing and managing the construction of electrical projects, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and providing technical expertise to operations personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and manage electrical projects, including planning, design, construction, and maintenance
  • Provide technical expertise to operations personnel on electrical systems and safety procedures
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, including NEC, NESC, MSHA, and OSHA
  • Manage electrical contractors and coordinate with internal teams to ensure project completion
  • Develop and implement electrical systems and automation solutions to improve productivity and reduce costs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • At least 5-10 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in mining, heavy industrial, or utility industries
  • Experience with PLCs, Soft Starts, and VFDs, as well as Power System Analysis Software (PTW, ETAP)
  • Strong knowledge of safety and environmental regulations, as well as mine production techniques and equipment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with internal and external teams
