Position Overview

Are you dedicated to providing exceptional orthopedic care and enhancing patient experiences? DMC Primary Care is looking for a proficient Medical Assistant with expertise in orthopedics to become a vital part of our Sports Medicine team, ensuring the highest standards of care in our specialty clinic.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Sports Medicine provider in a Family Medicine Specialty Clinic environment, focusing on the evaluation, treatment, and management of patients with musculoskeletal issues.
  • Prepare patient charts ahead of appointments and communicate with patients as necessary to gather information or provide instructions for pre-visit imaging or tests.
  • Assist in patient intake, including measuring vital signs.
  • Conduct orthopedic procedures such as casting, splinting, and bracing under the guidance of the Sports Medicine provider.
  • Educate patients and their families on post-visit care, rehabilitation exercises, and the correct usage of orthopedic devices.
  • Ensure accurate medical records and documentation of patient care activities are maintained.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited orthopedic technology program is preferred.
  • Certification as an Orthopedic Technician (COT) or Orthopedic Technologist (OT) is highly desirable but not mandatory.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in an orthopedic care environment is required.
  • Expertise in orthopedic casting, splinting, and bracing techniques is essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
