DMC Primary Care is in search of a proficient Medical Assistant with a background in orthopedics to join our esteemed Sports Medicine division. This role is primarily based in our Wellness clinic but may involve travel to other locations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Sports Medicine physician in a Family Medicine Specialty Clinic environment, focusing on the evaluation, treatment, and management of patients with musculoskeletal issues.
- Prepare patient charts prior to appointments and communicate with patients as necessary to gather information or provide instructions for pre-visit imaging or tests.
- Room patients and accurately record vital signs.
- Assist in orthopedic procedures, including casting, splinting, and bracing, under the guidance of the Sports Medicine physician.
- Educate patients and their families on post-visit care, rehabilitation exercises, and the correct usage of orthopedic devices.
- Ensure precise medical records and documentation of patient care activities are maintained.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited orthopedic technology program is preferred.
- Certification as an Orthopedic Technician (COT) or Orthopedic Technologist (OT) is highly desirable, though not mandatory.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in an orthopedic care environment is required.
- Expertise in orthopedic casting, splinting, and bracing techniques is essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
