Position Overview

As a Surgical Technologist at Parkland Medical Center, you will play a vital role in the surgical team, ensuring that the operating room is prepared and maintained for a variety of surgical procedures. Your contributions will directly impact patient care and the overall success of surgical operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Collaborate closely with Registered Nurses to prepare patients for surgery across various specialties, including Cardiothoracic, Neurology, OB-GYN, ENT, Oral, Plastics, Orthopedics, General-Vascular, Ophthalmology, and GU.
- Scrub for surgical procedures and perform essential duties related to the upkeep of the operating room environment.
- Maintain an organized inventory of necessary surgical equipment and supplies, ensuring that all items are readily available.
- Assess and confirm the required equipment and supplies based on the specific needs of patients and surgeons.
- Assist in the safe positioning and movement of patients prior to surgery.
- Ensure the integrity of the sterile field throughout the procedure.
- Provide assistance during critical situations, including patient resuscitation in emergencies.
- Carry out additional tasks as directed by the surgical team to support successful surgical outcomes.

Qualifications

- Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience in an operating room setting.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BCLS) from the American Heart Association.
