Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medication Refill Specialist to join our team at DMC Primary Care. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary healthcare team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the seamless delivery of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medication Protocol Management: Review and process refill requests, ensuring compliance with established medication protocols and guidelines.
  • Refill Request Management: Manage and prioritize refill requests from various sources, including patient portals, fax machines, and electronic prescriptions.
  • Clinical Knowledge and Critical Thinking: Utilize clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills to process refill requests, making informed decisions in a timely manner.
  • Authorization and Communication: Authorize medication refills as directed by providers, communicate with pharmacies, and update patient care information in our electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Time Management and Organization: Manage refills in a timely fashion, prioritizing tasks and adjusting workflows to meet deadlines.
Requirements
  • Certification and Education: Certification as a Pharmacy Technician or Medical Assistant is required, along with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience and Skills: A minimum of 2 years' experience in a physician's office, pharmacy, or customer service setting is preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on customer service, are essential.
  • Organizational and Time Management Skills: Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional Conduct and Confidentiality: Demonstrate initiative, good judgment, and empathy when working with team members and patients, while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
