About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Compliance Specialist to ensure our company's adherence to California's complex certified payroll regulations, specifically in the context of union labor. This role is critical in maintaining compliance, avoiding penalties, and upholding our commitment to fair labor practices.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of prevailing wage laws, union agreements, and certified payroll reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and submit union certified payroll reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as union agreements.
  • Verify correct calculation of prevailing wages, overtime, fringe benefits, and other compensation for union workers.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all relevant union agreements and ensure compliance with their terms in all payroll practices.
  • Record and document all certified payroll data, union agreements, and correspondence related to compliance.
  • Assist with internal and external audits related to certified payroll and wage and hour compliance.
  • Address and resolve any payroll disputes or discrepancies with union representatives or government agencies.
  • Provide training and guidance to project managers and other staff on certified payroll procedures and compliance requirements.
Qualifications

A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in certified payroll processing, with a strong emphasis on union payroll. In-depth knowledge of California prevailing wage laws (including the Labor Code and California Code of Regulations). Experience working with various union agreements. Proficiency in certified payroll software. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).

Preferred Skills: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification. Experience working in the construction industry. Familiarity with additional labor compliance areas (e.g., OSHA, EEO).
