Your Role:
As a Lead Underwriter in our Construction Risk Management division, you will play a pivotal role in:
  • Engaging with brokers and producers to cultivate new business opportunities and manage renewals.
  • Evaluating submissions, assessing terms and conditions, and analyzing loss history to gauge risk levels according to our underwriting guidelines.
  • Collaborating with various internal departments, including Actuarial, Claims, and Regulatory, to ensure comprehensive support for our underwriting activities.
  • Making informed decisions on risk acceptance and pricing, utilizing approved rating models.
  • Customizing policy language to align with specific client needs when standard forms are insufficient.
  • Cross-selling additional products and services to enhance client relationships.
  • Upholding service excellence in the delivery of construction risk products.
  • Mentoring and guiding junior underwriters and support staff to foster professional growth.
  • Participating in strategic projects as directed by senior leadership.

Qualifications:
We are seeking candidates with:
  • Extensive experience in commercial underwriting, particularly within the construction sector.
  • Expertise in underwriting risks associated with energy sectors, including Oil, Gas, and Power Generation.
  • Strong analytical skills to provide effective solutions for construction managers and contractors.
  • Familiarity with Primary Casualty coverage, including Wrap-Ups and Excess and Umbrella liability.
  • The ability to work autonomously while being a collaborative team player.
  • Proficient communication skills for effective interaction with internal teams and external partners.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; advanced qualifications such as CPCU or CRIS are preferred.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary within the assigned region.
