Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Forensic Engineer, PE to join our team at Stephens Engineering Consultants, Inc.

About the Role

  • As a Forensic Engineer, PE, you will be responsible for conducting thorough investigations and analyses of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings to identify causes of damage or failure.
  • You will prepare detailed, unbiased written reports of your findings, consistent with our company's standards and guidelines.
  • Effective communication with clients, the engineering team, and the home office is essential for this role.
  • You will also be required to provide depositions and expert testimony, if necessary, on assigned work.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering or an engineering-related discipline.
  • Possess and maintain an active professional engineer (PE) license in the state of employment or the ability to become licensed within two months.
  • An NCEES Record is preferred.
  • Have a valid driver's license without travel time restrictions and the ability to be insured by the company to use the company vehicles.

Work Environment

  • This is a home-based position, requiring residence in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas metropolitan area.
  • Travel to and from site inspections will be provided by the home office, with occasional extended travel times required.
  • You will be required to drive long distances, if necessary, which may occasionally require longer than 8-hour days.
  • Overnight travel may be required depending on the location and number of sites to investigate in an area.

Physical Requirements

  • You must be willing and able to perform the physical tasks associated with performing forensic investigations, including standing, walking, sitting, or driving for extended periods of time.
  • Climbing stairs, ladders, and scaffolding, as well as walking on flat, uneven, and pitched roof slopes, some of which may be over 2-stories.
  • Crawling through confined spaces (attics, crawlspaces, etc.) and working outside in the heat or cold.
  • The ability to lift and move objects weighing 50 to 100 lbs.
