Position Overview:

The ideal candidate will possess expertise in the dynamics of structural systems and their components, particularly in the realm of Forensic Engineering, applicable to various structures including residential, commercial, industrial, and marine facilities.

Experience in conducting failure analysis on building systems, producing technical documentation, and engaging in construction-related legal matters is highly valued. Familiarity with various building systems such as steel, concrete, masonry, wood, roofing, and building envelopes is essential.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct field investigations to document existing conditions and assess damage to structural systems caused by natural disasters (e.g., wind, water, fire, seismic activity) or human-related issues (e.g., design flaws, construction errors).
  • Analyze the impact of significant natural events, including floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, and earthquakes.
  • Apply building codes and technical knowledge of structural behavior to formulate repair recommendations and conduct cause and origin investigations.
  • Review design documents and technical specifications.
  • Engage with clients, collaborate with code officials and contractors, and prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely completion within budget constraints.
  • Foster and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Be prepared to travel as necessary on short notice.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution is required.
  • Must hold a Texas Professional Engineer license through NCEES examination; additional state registrations are advantageous.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Structural Engineering, with a background that enhances understanding of structural behavior.
  • Familiarity with national building and construction codes (e.g., ICC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, NDS) is necessary.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of structural engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience with various construction types is a plus.
  • Field experience is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Experience in providing litigation support, including expert testimony in depositions or trials, is desirable.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States and possess a valid driving record.
