Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Adjunct Instructor to teach Human Services courses at Indian River State College. The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in mental health counseling, counselor education, social work, psychology, or a related field, and at least three years of post-Master's level experience as a practicing psychotherapist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and deliver lectures, skill-building activities, and practical evaluations for Human Services courses.
  • Actively advise and support students to ensure their academic and professional success.
  • Maintain an active program of professional growth to stay current in the field.

Qualifications
  • A Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in mental health counseling, counselor education, guidance, social work, psychology, or a closely related field.
  • At least three years of post-Master's level proven work experience as a practicing psychotherapist.
  • Current knowledge of the human services field, including major treatment modalities, instructional techniques, and computer skills related to courses taught.
  • Ability to facilitate in-class skill-building exercises based on simulated scenarios.
  • Proven ability to work with others.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to students from culturally diverse backgrounds.
Physical Requirements

This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present oral lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds.
