Job Title: Adjunct ESL Instructor

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct ESL Instructor to join our team at Indian River State College. The successful candidate will be responsible for instructing ESL students with varying degrees of English language proficiency and literacy development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instructing ESL students in a variety of settings, including language laboratories and computer-assisted language learning labs.
  • Cultivating and maintaining a supportive ESL learning environment that fosters student success.
  • Maintaining certification according to SACS requirements.
  • Developing and implementing lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse student populations.
  • Assessing student progress and adjusting instruction accordingly.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in English as a Second Language (ESL), English, Foreign Language, or a related field.
  • Coursework and/or experience in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL).
  • Flexibility in work hours.
  • Computer proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office and the internet.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with students from diverse cultural and language backgrounds.

Working Conditions:

This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present verbal lectures/demonstrations, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds.

Compensation: Pay range starts at: $20.25/hour | All salary calculations start at the minimum salary and will be based on candidates education and experience | Open until filled.
