Job Overview

The Systems Engineering Specialist II will join a dedicated team focused on the development of innovative products for the healthcare, dental, and veterinary sectors. Operating under general guidance, this position will employ a systematic engineering methodology to fulfill both customer and organizational requirements. The role will play a pivotal part in effectively translating needs into system specifications, designing interfaces, identifying design deficiencies, and facilitating resolutions among a diverse array of project stakeholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Engages with stakeholders to gather and validate requirements.
  • Assists in the formulation of well-defined system specifications that include reasonable acceptance criteria.
  • Utilizes analytical methods to support the architectural design process and evaluates the feasibility of various concepts.
  • Contributes to systems modeling efforts, leading basic modeling initiatives including textual modeling.
  • Supports technology planning necessary to deliver required functionalities.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to address quality issues, drive enhancements, and take ownership of technical solutions and their results.
  • Helps identify and assess risks, contributing to risk management strategies.
  • Communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, making informed decisions within assigned projects and taking responsibility for the outcomes.
  • Works on moderately complex projects, generates alternatives, and conducts evaluations.
  • Broadens problem definitions, integrates new insights and perspectives, and selects optimal solutions based on evidence.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
  • Negotiates and resolves conflicting requirements.
  • Develops more intricate system models under supervision.
  • Identifies capability challenges from the broader system that may impact the design of the system of interest.
  • Facilitates the creation and management of controls for specific interfaces.
  • Creates integration strategies for particular elements of a system under guidance.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline, along with 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. INCOSE ASEP certification or the ability to obtain certification within two years of employment is preferred.

SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:
  • Ability to generate alternatives and take calculated risks to resolve technical challenges.
  • Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Capability to take ownership of technical solutions and their outcomes.
  • Pursues a green belt in Design for Six Sigma.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Mentors junior engineers and co-op students, focusing on enhancing technical skills and cultural competencies.
