Systems Safety Engineer

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Systems Safety Engineer/Principal Systems Safety Engineer to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA. As a key member of our Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD), you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of our systems and products.
Job Summary:The Systems Safety Engineer/Principal Systems Safety Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing safety requirements for assigned systems, analyzing and recommending safety criteria, and developing safety documents to support customer and test/operational range requirements. This position requires a strong understanding of system safety principles, experience with safety analysis and documentation, and excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:- Develop and implement safety requirements for assigned systems
- Analyze and recommend safety criteria for system design, equipment, and procedures
- Develop safety documents to support customer and test/operational range requirements
- Participate in accident investigations and assist in identifying causes and corrective actions
- Evaluate the interrelationship of system safety requirements and other aspects of concept design and development requirements
- Bachelor's degree in STEM discipline with 2+ years of Engineering/Systems Safety experience OR Master's degree in STEM discipline
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US Govt. DoD Secret Clearance prior to start date
- System Engineering background with System Safety experience
- Experience performing Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SSHA), Test Hazard Analyses (THA), and support incorporating updates into the existing Hazard Tracking System (HTS) records and Safety Analysis Report (SAR)
- Experience performing Software Safety Hazard Analysis
- Experience developing a System Safety Program Plan
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-882E, AFI 91-202
- Familiarity with OSHA Standards

Salary Range: $87,200 - $130,800
Salary Range 2: $107,300 - $160,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
