Position Overview:
The Patient Access Coordinator serves as a vital first point of contact for our patients, embodying the highest standards of customer service and compassion. This role is essential in ensuring that all aspects of patient entry into any Mercy facility are handled efficiently and effectively. Responsibilities include:
- Scheduling appointments and managing registrations
- Verifying benefits and conducting pre-certifications
- Ensuring financial clearance, including pre-visit collections
The Patient Access Coordinator is responsible for collecting and accurately entering patient data into the system, maintaining a keen attention to detail while staying informed about insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards.
Qualifications:
Experience:
1-3 years of clerical experience is preferred, with familiarity in medical terminology and insurance plans being advantageous.
Education:
A high school diploma is required, while some college education is considered beneficial.
Skills:
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. Candidates should possess excellent telephone etiquette and the ability to foster positive relationships with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives. Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail are crucial, along with the ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
