This position plays a crucial role in the development and operation of New Glenn, a heavy-lift launch vehicle designed for reliable transportation of both crew and cargo to orbit and beyond. With its reusable first stage and a payload fairing measuring seven meters, New Glenn is paving the way for future space endeavors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the configuration of GS1 engineering Bill of Materials (eBOMs) from design through production, ensuring integrity from a supply chain and manufacturability standpoint.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage product configuration rules and Master BOMs.
  • Establish and uphold standard processes for managing inputs and changes within Windchill.
  • Optimize the number of components utilized in a BOM where feasible.
  • Facilitate a seamless transition of BOMs from design to manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across various departments (Engineering, Procurement, Production, Operations, Materials Planning, and Finance) to provide detailed product information for use in Arena and NetSuite systems.
  • Define and deliver training for staff on document control and configuration management, covering drawings, prints, schematics, work instructions, and data packages.
  • Prioritize tasks based on production and program timelines, ensuring minimal turnaround times.
  • Ensure accurate parts usage and completeness of critical information such as revisions and sourcing details.
  • As a System Design Configurator, refine Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) processes and enhance current system capabilities, driving continuous improvement.
  • Analyze data and propose enhancements to existing processes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in developing and packaging large structural support equipment for oil/gas, aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures.
  • Proven experience in configuration control for large support equipment throughout all phases from initial studies to final design and manufacturing.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, with experience in a highly integrated cross-functional team environment.
  • Demonstrated good judgment, flexibility, and a results-oriented mindset.
  • Proficient in design and integration using 3-D CAD software and visualization tools.
  • Knowledgeable in scheduling and planning principles and tools.
  • Ability to build trust and maintain positive professional relationships, contributing to an inclusive culture.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or legally admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with at least 8 years of experience, or a Master's degree in engineering with at least 6 years of experience.
  • Strong skills in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and experience with large tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Familiarity with PTC Creo and Windchill.
  • Completion of recognized configuration management training (CMII).
