Sterilization Department Manager

The Assistant Manager: Sterilization is a key member of the Central Sterile Processing Department at Temple University. This role is responsible for working closely with the manager to ensure the efficient operation of the department, including the development and enforcement of policies and procedures. The Assistant Manager will coordinate unit activities with all clinical areas, maintain accurate records of staff performance, and initiate disciplinary action when necessary. Additionally, this role will be responsible for maintaining inventory and ordering supplies, replacement instruments, and equipment as needed.
Responsibilities- Develop and enforce policies and procedures for the Central Sterile Processing Department
- Coordinate unit activities with all clinical areas
- Maintain accurate records of staff performance and conduct
- Initiate disciplinary action when necessary
- Maintain inventory and order supplies, replacement instruments, and equipment as needed
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree and at least 3 years of experience in instructional decontamination and sterilization of supplies, instruments, and equipment
- Certified and registered central service technician
- Experience in managing staff in a similar setting or willingness to participate in training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Excellent communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Organizational ability and ongoing commitment to the unit's adherence to relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulations
- Knowledge of sterilization equipment, sterilization and infection control policies and procedures
- Knowledge of dental terminology and ADA procedure codes
- Knowledge and skill in applying supervisory principles and practices
- Skill in operating a personal computer and using Microsoft Office software to produce a variety of forms, schedules, reports, and communications
- Familiarity with dental materials, instruments, and equipment
