Assistant Manager Job Description

RHODES CONVENIENCE STORES INC is seeking an Assistant Manager to join our team. As an Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining guest service in assigned stores, assisting the general manager in ensuring maximum sales and profitability, and managing food operating costs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain guest service standards in assigned stores, ensuring a positive experience for every guest.
  • Assist the general manager in achieving budgeted sales and maintaining budgeted gross profit.
  • Control shrink, expenses, and payroll to ensure financial stability.
  • Ensure appropriate merchandise stock levels, presentations, and sales items are adequately stocked.
  • Review store trends and recommend changes to maximize goals and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures, and accurate completion of paperwork associated with cashier reports, payroll, and other miscellaneous items.
  • Continually evaluate and communicate performance issues to the general manager, and actively recruit employees.
  • Train and develop customer service employees, direct and monitor training and development for employees.
  • Ensure the store is clean, neat, and meeting the expectations of RHODES 101.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1 year retail and/or restaurant experience preferred.
  • Completion of our training program and food safety certification.
Work Environment:

The Physical Demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.

Very minimal travel, with the occasional trip to support other stores and attending required meetings.
