Are you an innovative leader with extensive knowledge in cybersecurity, prepared to guide security initiatives for a global leader in travel and hospitality? Booking Holdings Inc. is in search of an outstanding Chief Security Officer (CSO) to join our executive leadership team and direct our comprehensive security strategy, safeguarding the integrity of our organization’s assets.
The Senior Vice President & Chief Security Officer (CSO) is tasked with ensuring that our organization’s security functions effectively to minimize risks, enhance value, and deliver a competitive edge. This role includes representing and articulating a robust security plan to stakeholders such as boards, regulators, insurers, and consumer groups. The CSO will cultivate strong connections among BHI brand companies, legal, privacy, risk management, and security teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Formulate and oversee the overall security risk management strategy and performance across the organization. This encompasses developing synergistic strategies, policies, processes, and improvement programs to mitigate compliance, operational, strategic, and asset security risks associated with technology, data, personnel, supply chain, and other assets.
- Operational Excellence: Supervise the enhancement or implementation of core capabilities throughout the enterprise, drive cost optimization initiatives, and manage the allocation of talent categories among employed team members, contract labor, or third-party managed service providers.
- Incident Response: Direct incident response planning, investigate security breaches, and manage related escalations, communications, disciplinary, and legal matters. Serve as the primary spokesperson during crises, leading the organization through significant incidents.
- Compliance & Collaboration: Ensure compliance with applicable laws, standards, and industry best practices across all brands, with a focus on financial services. Promote cross-brand collaboration in areas of mutual benefit and standardize company-wide cyber and safety standards.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Provide reports and briefings to the management team on critical security, safety, and compliance topics, and engage with the Audit Committee and Board of Directors as necessary. Build and maintain relationships with law enforcement entities relevant to Booking Holdings' global presence.
- Leadership & Crisis Management: Proven experience (15+ years) in a senior cybersecurity leadership role, such as CSO or CISO, preferably within a large, complex global organization. Familiarity with the dynamics of a matrix organization and a demonstrable track record of developing and implementing security strategies and frameworks. Proven ability to manage major crises and security breaches effectively.
- Security & Compliance Expertise: Extensive knowledge in security systems, risk management, and critical infrastructure protection. Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as ISO, SOX, GDPR, CCPA, and PCI-DSS. Expertise in cybersecurity, information security, safety, physical security, fraud prevention, crisis management, and compliance.
- Critical Leadership Capabilities: Ability to lead change, foster relationships, collaborate, and influence at all levels. Strong communication skills, a strategic mindset, and the capability to drive results in changing or uncertain conditions.
