Position Overview

As a key member of the healthcare team, the Radiation Therapist is responsible for delivering precise radiation treatments to patients diagnosed with cancer. This role involves collaboration with physicians and dosimetrists to ensure optimal patient care.

+ Department: Southfield Radiation Oncology

+ Schedule: PRN (as needed); Monday-Friday, Clinic Hours: 7:00am-3:30pm; no weekends or major holidays.

Key Responsibilities

+ Administer radiation therapy by accurately targeting designated areas of the patient's body with prescribed doses.

+ Prepare and position patients while selecting appropriate anatomical parameters.

+ Collaborate with physicians and dosimetrists to implement effective treatment plans.

+ Maintain comprehensive records of all therapy sessions.

+ Operate and maintain essential equipment, including linear accelerators.

+ Ensure compliance with regulatory standards in all activities.

+ Submit high-quality images and documents to PACS, ensuring accuracy in lead markers and patient data.

+ Uphold a clean, safe, and organized environment within the department.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

+ BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association (AHA) required prior to hire or transfer. American Red Cross (ARC) CPR for Professional Rescuers card accepted upon hire, but renewal must be a BLS Provider card from AHA.

+ One or more of the following credentials required:

+ Cardiographic Tech credential from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).

+ Radiologic Technologist specializing in Radiation Therapy credential from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) within 12 months of hire.

+ Medical Sonographer credential from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) within 12 months of hire.

Education:

+ High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience, OR Associate's/Technical degree, OR 4 years of applicable job-specific experience.

Preferred Qualifications

+ ARRT Credentialed

+ Graduate of an accredited radiation therapy program

+ Experience with Varian/ARIA systems preferred
