Job Title: Freight Coordinator

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Freight Coordinator to join our Irvine, CA-based team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication and negotiation abilities, and a proven track record in managing domestic and international outbound transportation. This role requires a self-motivated individual who can adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate freight rates to optimize costs and streamline transit processes, ensuring seamless movement of perishable products.
  • Manage a large volume of truckload lanes in our transportation management software (Turvo).
  • Collaborate with outside brokers and 3PL companies to quote and book freight, under the guidance of the Logistics Manager.
  • Track and trace shipments to provide timely updates to customers, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Address inquiries and day-to-day trucking issues via ZenDesk, phone calls, Teams messages, and emails to ensure smooth business operations.
  • Update company spreadsheets with accuracy, maintain and update relevant systems and portals, and share real-time information across teams.
  • Support our in-house brokerage team as needed.
  • Complete other projects and tasks assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in freight booking, particularly refrigerated ground transportation.
  • Ability to negotiate to ensure the Company is favored with the most competitive refrigerated rates possible.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to work with a sense of urgency.
  • Sound judgement and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient with Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel with v-lookups and pivot tables.
  • Preferred: Experience with freight software (Turvo) and ZenDesk.
