Job Summary

Catholic Charities Family and Community Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Housing Associate to join our team. As a key member of our residential support team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the well-being and safety of our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the operation of the residence, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for clients.
  • Conduct intakes for individuals entering the residence, providing essential information and support.
  • Act as a liaison with other community service providers and referral sources, fostering strong relationships and collaboration.
  • Provide information and referral services for telephone inquiries, offering guidance and support to clients and community members.
  • Supervise the preparation of meals by residents, ensuring sanitation and nutritional standards are met.
  • Provide crisis intervention and conflict management to residents, promoting a peaceful and respectful living environment.
  • Maintain accurate record-keeping, including client census and database system updates.
  • Notify the Residence Manager of any emergency situations immediately, ensuring prompt response and resolution.
  • Assist with providing support and direction for clients and volunteers engaged in program activities.
  • Complete incident reports thoroughly and promptly, documenting all relevant details and notifications.
  • Document shift and client observations/activities as outlined in communication log procedures.
  • Ensure clients meet with onsite medical providers to address any health concerns.
  • Monitor facility and activities to ensure safety and location of all residents.
  • Conduct hourly rounds, inspections, and overnight visual checks to verify resident presence.
  • Report serious incidents or violations to the Residence Manager.
  • Verify resident presence and document sign-in/out sheets accurately.
  • Assist the Residence Manager as needed, providing support and guidance.
  • Engage the security system to ensure safety and security of the premises.
  • Notify the Residence Manager and/or Program Manager and Department Director of client discharges.
  • Maintain safety and organization cleanliness of the residence during shifts.
  • Perform laundry, room preparation, and housekeeping tasks as needed.
  • Conduct monthly fire drills and emergency procedures to ensure resident and staff safety.
  • Participate in relevant Agency meetings and/or trainings, pursuing professional development and growth.
Requirements
  • Associate Degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
  • Valid and clean NYS Driver's License.
  • Two years of experience in the human services field, crisis intervention, residential setting, or emergency services.
  • Knowledge of homeless client issues preferred.
  • Experience with conflict resolution techniques preferred.
