Job Title: Liability Claims Specialist

Location: California (Remote and In-Office)

Employment Type: Temporary to Hire, Hybrid (3 days remote, 2 days in-office)

Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Compensation: $43.57/hr

Position Overview:

The Liability Claims Specialist will be responsible for managing litigated and intricate non-litigated claims that involve significant injuries, general liability, employment practice liability, and various legal conflicts. This role demands the formulation of strategies aimed at achieving favorable resolutions while adhering to client service standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and process reports/forms; address inquiries; seek legal counsel and facilitate prompt resolutions.
  • Oversee the litigation process for claims, ensuring compliance with defense counsel protocols and service expectations.
  • Respond to legal decisions, agreements, and court directives, creating actionable plans as necessary.
  • Identify claims that are amenable to early resolution.
  • Collect and document supplementary information, collaborating with client representatives.
  • Pinpoint issues and devise defense strategies in partnership with the defense team.
  • Establish and modify accrued liabilities, and authorize legal expenditures.
  • Recognize subrogation opportunities and manage relevant tenders.
  • Participate in mediations, trials, arbitrations, or hearings as required (often via virtual platforms).
  • Coordinate strategic discussions with the defense team, including authority deliberations and mock trial preparations.

Additional Responsibilities:

Perform other duties as assigned and contribute to the organization's quality initiatives.

Qualifications:

Must reside in California.

Education & Licensing:

High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred; relevant professional certification is a plus.

Experience:

A minimum of five (5) years of experience in litigation management, including claims management or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Proficient in legal documentation and discovery processes.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including presentation capabilities.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong analytical and interpretive abilities.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Able to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Capable of meeting or exceeding service expectations and performance standards.

Work Environment:

Hybrid (combination of remote and in-office work).

Mental & Physical Requirements:

Clear and conceptual thinking ability; sound judgment, problem-solving skills, and discretion; ability to manage work-related stress, multiple priorities, and deadlines. Physical requirements include computer keyboarding and occasional travel as necessary.
