Job Description

Hampton, Lenzini and Renwick, Inc. (HLR), a 100% employee-owned civil engineering firm, is seeking a full-time Project Surveyor to join their team. As a Professional Land Surveyor, you will be responsible for performing boundary, topographic, ALTA, and right-of-way surveys, as well as processing data collected for these surveys.


The ideal candidate will have a PLS License in Illinois and 4+ years of progressively more challenging assignments, including experience on IDOT/ISTHA projects or equivalent. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and a complete understanding of boundary retracement procedures and statutes for Illinois are also required.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform boundary, topographic, ALTA, and right-of-way surveys
  • Process data collected for boundary, topographic, ALTA, and right-of-way surveys
  • Review and prepare survey plats, subdivision plats, right-of-way plats and legal descriptions, and monument records
  • Perform monument reconnaissance, monument preservation, reestablish property and section corners
  • Read and interpret legal descriptions and title documents
  • Organize work and set priorities to meet project deadlines
  • Understand and follow safety guidelines
