Role Summary

The Area Coach is responsible for managing the personnel, processes, and operations of 5-7 restaurants within their jurisdiction. This role involves training, mentoring, and supporting managers through strategic planning, goal setting, and implementing successful routines. The focus is on in-store problem resolution and process enhancement; establishing standards; and recognizing and motivating Restaurant Managers, Assistant Managers, and their teams. The Area Coach will set and review specific performance targets related to guest service, margin enhancement, and employee satisfaction, while ensuring compliance with company standards in food safety, product quality, and facility specifications. This includes managing limited capital budgets to address the most critical facility needs, introducing new company products and initiatives, and selecting, training, developing, and motivating managerial staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enhance people capability to drive brand performance.
  • Recruit and develop top-tier operators to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
  • Build a strong and capable team of Managers.

  • Manage performance processes for all employees, including feedback, evaluations, training, and conflict resolution.

Ensure Consistent Customer Experience

  • Foster a customer-centric culture by modeling effective resolution of customer issues and training managers to meet or exceed service standards.
  • Analyze customer complaints to identify root causes and guide management in implementing effective solutions.
  • Conduct restaurant audits with RGMs to assess performance standards and provide objective feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards through direct observation and follow-up on audit results.
  • Monitor restaurant Speed with Service (SWS) performance and coach management teams to achieve targets.

Drive Brand Growth, Sales, and Profitability

  • Review and prioritize capital expenditure requests, establishing vendor relationships to leverage scale.
  • Ensure facilities and equipment meet brand standards and coordinate necessary upgrades or replacements.
  • Continuously analyze sales, labor, inventory, and controllables, coaching teams on corrective actions to meet margin and sales growth targets.
  • Collaborate with Managers to enhance sales performance compared to previous achievements.
  • Work with Restaurant General Managers to create and implement unit-specific Annual Operating Plans.
