Before and After School Program Instructor

The YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties is seeking a dedicated individual to support the work of the Y, a leading non-profit organization committed to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
Job SummaryThis is a part-time position that will support the YMCA Child Care Program year-round to serve our community with a variety of activity options to explore and develop the interests and talents of the youth with a focus on safety, health, social growth, and academic enhancement.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain positive public relations with members and always represent the best interests of the YMCA.
- Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
- Support academic goals and plans for attending children.
- Promote a positive environment that fosters fun, safety, and our YMCA values which includes implementation of proximity praise, specific action compliments, and our 8 Points of Leadership.
- Maintain site and equipment, including properly implementing proper cleaning procedures and upkeep of equipment.
- Attend and participate in family nights and program activities.
- You are committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
- You are at least 18 years old with a High School Diploma or GED.
- You have at least one year of experience working with children in a childcare setting.
- Are willing to enroll in and complete STARS training within 60 days of employment.
- You are currently certified (with documentation) or are willing to certify in Infant-Child CPR and Basic First Aid within 30 days of employment.
- You are willing to obtain a Food Handlers permit (cost reimbursable), complete a pre-employment TB skin test with negative results (YMCA will assist in this process and proof of MMR vaccination (before the first day of employment).
- Must be able to successfully complete required DCYF background and fingerprint checks before the first day of hire.
- You are able to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on your first day, and other online and in-person training as required.
- You have reliable transportation and the ability to assist at other childcare sites as needed.
- Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act)
