Field Engineer - Heavy Civil Construction

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Field Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the Project Management Department and will oversee specific construction activities on the project. This role entails ensuring effective site administration and coordination of operations, quality assurance, health and safety compliance, and cost management for field activities within a designated area or type of construction under the guidance of the Project Management Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Report directly to the Project Manager, implementing and managing essential construction processes as required.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs and prepare cost estimates.
  • Evaluate the quality of work and ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Assist the Project Manager in overseeing field operations (quality, safety, and design compliance).
  • Develop labor schedules as necessary.
  • Manage the ordering, receiving, and tracking of materials, supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Propose change orders and oversee cost control for relevant activities.
  • Recommend solutions for design modifications throughout the construction phase.
  • May oversee subcontractor responsibilities in relation to various contracts.
  • Perform any other reasonable tasks as requested by management.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Science, or a related field.
  • 0 to 2 years of experience in similar construction roles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience in highway or road construction is preferred.
  • Ability to influence and lead others effectively.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not mandatory.
