Job Summary:

The Office of Academic Engagement at Washington State University is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Program Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a critical role in supporting student involvement in high-impact educational experiences. Your responsibilities will include implementing systems and methods for student programs and services, serving as the primary contact for the Commons Student Center, and providing day-to-day support and student service referral. You will also interpret and enforce academic policies and procedures, monitor and evaluate student services, and provide information and clarification regarding University policies and procedures to students, faculty, staff, and parents. Additionally, you will assist in purchasing, budget management, inventory control, and supply, equipment, and office space needs determination and utilization. Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement systems and methods for student programs and services
  • Serve as the primary contact for the Commons Student Center
  • Provide day-to-day support and student service referral
  • Interpret and enforce academic policies and procedures
  • Monitor and evaluate student services
  • Provide information and clarification regarding University policies and procedures
  • Assist in purchasing, budget management, inventory control, and supply, equipment, and office space needs determination and utilization

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education/experience
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in administrative, finance, and record management
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and positively in a diverse environment
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Attention to details, organized, and multi-tasking to meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in Higher Education
  • Knowledgeable with both PC, Mac, tablet hard/software
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel Pivot Tables and Power Queries
  • Knowledgeable in Adobe Creative Suite and/or WordPress
  • Knowledgeable in Workday Administrative Systems
  • Master's degree in related field
  • Previous work experience at an institution of higher education
  • One or more years of experience advising/counseling students in a higher education setting or equivalent
  • Experience working with diverse faculty, students, and staff
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise professional judgment and leadership, including the ability to work independently
  • Familiarity with Washington State University academic rules and regulations
  • Familiarity with Washington State University Business Policies and Procedures
  • Professional experience related to the design, implementation, and evaluation of academic programs and strategic planning at college
