Job Description

Position Overview

The Department of Mathematics at Harvard University is seeking a highly qualified Senior Lecturer in Mathematics to join our team. This is a five-year appointment, renewable contingent upon review and approval of the divisional/SEAS dean.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach three undergraduate mathematics courses per academic year, including the possibility of coordinating a multi-sectioned course for non-mathematics majors.
  • Carry out administrative and advising duties as required by the Department.

Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Mathematics or a related discipline required by the time the appointment begins.
  • Strong background in advanced mathematics and a sophisticated understanding of undergraduate teaching, learning, and curricular issues.
  • Considerable experience teaching mathematics at the undergraduate level, meeting one of the following sets of criteria:
    • Demonstrated exceptional teaching skills and experience teaching within the tenured associate or full professor ranks at a university or peer undergraduate institution, with a commensurate scholarly record.
    • Demonstrated a record of national leadership in innovation in pedagogy, with outstanding promise of continuing contribution, and exceptional teaching skills.
