Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Emergency Medicine Sr. Physician Assistant to join our team at The Johns Hopkins University. As a key member of our multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals, and contributing to the development of clinical research protocols.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including history and physical examinations, and develop treatment plans in collaboration with physicians.
- Order and interpret laboratory tests, x-rays, and other diagnostic studies, and discuss abnormal findings with physicians as needed.
- Initiate IV therapy, perform injections, and provide basic and advanced life support in emergency situations.
- Prepare chart documentation for review and signature by physicians.
- Maintain technical proficiency in approved procedures, including suturing, wound care, and orthopedic care.
- Prescribe and regulate medications, evaluate outcomes of interventions, and arrange consultations and referrals as needed.
- Participate in the interviewing process for clinical staff, make hiring recommendations, and recommend discipline as necessary.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Certification by the NCCPA or similar national certifying body.
- Completion of a CAAHEP certified Physician Assistant program.
- Must be licensed as a PA in the State of Maryland or other state where practicing.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a related clinical area, with proficiency in the area of specialty.
- Residency or fellowship programs in the area of specialization may substitute for some experience.
- Five years related experience.
- Experience in Emergency Medicine.
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR certification required.
Sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods. Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s). Ability to move standard equipment through a hospital or clinical environment.
