Job Summary

Total Comfort Solutions is seeking a skilled Building Automation Systems Estimator to join our team. As a key member of our sales, project, and service teams, you will work closely with our subcontractors and suppliers to support project sales in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and evaluate sales opportunities, including scope of work, points list, contract drawings, and specifications to analyze project needs.
  • Attend sales meetings, conduct site visits, and/or meet with clients and engineers to verify existing conditions that will impact the costs for the project.
  • Create clear and detailed cost estimates from this data, consisting of materials, purchased equipment, and labor, to assist in bidding or determining the project price for renovations, retrofits, new installations, upgrades, and change orders.
  • Assemble accurate and well-organized narrative for in-scope items, exclusions, and clarifications for inclusion in the proposal.
  • Coordinate with controls designers and acquisitions personnel to stay up-to-date on product, supply, and subcontractor prices to ensure accurate estimates.
  • Develop and maintain unit pricing and cost estimating databases for material, labor, and other costs associated with data for products, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate the needs for personnel, materials, and other factors that affect project costs.
  • Organize vendor and subcontractor quotations, negotiate pricing while ensuring quotes meet contract documents and requirements.
  • Estimated project size would be between $20,000 and $1,000,000.
Requirements
  • High School or GED required.
  • 4-Year degree in mechanical engineering or 2-Year technical degree with work experience in Controls/HVAC and 2+ years.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and balance several projects at a time.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of safe work habits.
  • Ability to pass fit-for-duty evaluations as required for contract requirements.
  • Experience with managing agreements and quoted jobs to the margins and standards at which they were sold.
  • Experience interacting with subcontractors and other vendors to solicit proposals.
  • Experience in layout, design, and installation of Building Automation Systems, Integration, Energy Management, and Commissioning is preferred.
  • Experience in HVAC and Electrical is a plus.
  • Strong ability to review and evaluate prints, drawings, specifications, schematics, and written sequences of operation to develop digital takeoffs composed of a point list, controller selection, labor, and materials estimate.
  • Advanced knowledge of computerized estimating techniques and cost control, plus the ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems are essential.
  • Microsoft Products.
  • Valid driver's license and in good standing.
