About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist II Per Diem to join our team at UNC Medical Center. As a Surgical Technologist II, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms, providing exceptional patient care, and collaborating with our surgical team to deliver high-quality patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and care of surgical patients, from infancy to geriatrics, under the general direction of a professional nurse.
  • Utilize expertise in sterile aseptic technique, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a surgeon's performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure a safe and efficient operating room environment.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and protocols to improve patient care and safety.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to junior surgical technologists and students.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest surgical techniques, technologies, and best practices.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a Surgical Technology program.
  • National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) certification.
  • Three (3) years of clinical practice for Senior Surgical Technologist-A, and five (5) years of surgical technology practice for Senior Surgical Technologist-B.
