We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist II to join our team at UNC Health. As a Surgical Technologist II, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective conduct of surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and maintain a safe and efficient operating room environment, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
- Assist the surgeon and registered nurse in the intraoperative implementation phase of nursing practice, providing expert technical support and ensuring that all surgical procedures are conducted under optimal conditions.
- Perform surgical scrub duties across multiple services, demonstrating expertise in sterile and aseptic technique and combining knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies.
- Participate in the planning and setup of instruments, supplies, and surgical drapes, ensuring optimal accessibility during procedures.
- Assist in the proper identification, preparation, handling, and labeling of surgical specimens, and participate in data collection for research projects under the direction of an RN.
- Operate complex equipment and other resources in the operating room, troubleshooting as necessary.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program, or Military Training Program in Surgical Technology
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) through The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or Tech in Surgery (TS-C) through The National Center of Competency Testing
- 3+ years of experience as a Surgical Technologist
