Senior Property & Casualty Underwriter

Position Summary:
Chubb is actively seeking a proficient Core Commercial Underwriter to enhance its Middle Market Commercial Insurance division.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Underwriter, you will manage a renewal portfolio valued between $7M - $8M and aim to generate new business approximating $1-1.5M annually. Your role will be pivotal in fostering profitable growth through collaboration with agents and brokers. The range of products includes Package, Property, General Liability, Auto, Worker's Compensation, Umbrella/Excess, and Foreign. Programs will feature guaranteed cost and Loss Sensitive structures. We seek a candidate who is driven, results-focused, and possesses robust business and underwriting insight.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience in both Property & Casualty lines is essential; familiarity with global programs is advantageous.
  • Underwriting tasks will encompass developing and negotiating pricing, coverage, terms, and conditions for all new business and renewals while actively identifying opportunities for account rounding across other Chubb practices.
  • This role necessitates collaboration with fellow underwriters, operations, claims, marketing, and home office management as required. The underwriter must implement and oversee effective pricing and rate strategies to ensure profitability, book growth, and successful producer relations.
  • Strong sales and marketing capabilities are crucial; the candidate must demonstrate successful management of agency and broker relationships, including building and maintaining producer and customer connections.
  • Ability to recognize growth opportunities within new and existing production sources is vital. Knowledge of marketing principles, pricing/rate strategies, and their application for achieving underwriting profitability is expected.
  • A high degree of proficiency in the underwriting process, complemented by a solid background in risk analysis, is required.
  • The candidate must effectively engage with all customer levels and collaborate with a team of underwriters, claims, and loss control personnel.
  • Proficiency in technical issues, compliance, coverage, products, and pricing strategies is anticipated.
  • Local travel will be primarily required.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in P&C Underwriting

• Proven marketing and negotiation skills are essential

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management abilities

The compensation range for this position is between $87,500 and $149,500, with specific offers depending on the applicant's skills and other factors.
