Job Summary:
The Senior Risk Assessment Specialist is responsible for cultivating and maintaining strong, professional relationships with agency partners, while driving the growth and profitability goals of the organization. This role demands a high level of technical knowledge, sound judgment, and the ability to deliver consistent outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze loss history, insurance valuations, and loss prevention reports, along with other pertinent risk factors.
- Develop and uphold a comprehensive understanding of the company's underwriting standards, coverage options, enhancements, rating methodologies, and operational workflows.
- Assess the eligibility of commercial lines packages, auto, workers' compensation, and umbrella policies in accordance with company underwriting standards.
- Utilize underwriting data such as inspection findings, claims records, and commercial applications to make informed underwriting choices.
- Establish suitable premium levels and coverage options for commercial packages and umbrella policies based on filed rates and specific risk attributes.
- Maintain robust business relationships with designated agencies, which includes agency travel and management duties.
- Achieve or surpass all company service benchmarks for underwriting and processing commercial lines applications, endorsements, renewals, and new business policies.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior underwriters.
- Engage in special projects and perform additional responsibilities as necessary.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial multi-line and/or package underwriting is required; experience in workers' compensation and casualty is preferred.
- Proficient computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft 365 are essential.
- Completion or progress towards a Professional Designation such as CPCU, CIC, or ARM is preferred.
- Experience with ImageRight is advantageous.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities are essential.
- Proficient negotiation and analytical skills are necessary.
- Demonstrated capacity to exercise sound judgment and decision-making in line with company underwriting policies and philosophy.
